Experience of the LA (USA) office recently anyone?

Post by Tawedd » Wed Oct 13, 2010 5:36 pm

HI

We have been waiting for our Spouse visa for 35working days now, as far as i am concerned we have no reasons for a difficult application, but have heard nothing, as others have aluded to in their messages, we are both having a very hard time being apart, my Wife is stuck in limbo working a part time job as she cannot commit to a permanent one until we know what is going on,

this is having a very detrimental affect on me and her, and we will have to work hard on our relationship to get back to where we were.

I just wonder whether this is the norm for the LA office, the processing times show otherwise but i am really worried now that it is taking so long, should i be contacting my MP as i saw that may have an impact on our situation?

we had a party organised in the UK to celebrate but have had to postpone it, i really dont want to have to do that again, and in fact wouldnt be able to due to cost and annoying all the vendors we have organised things with.

anyway any experience of LA, encouragement would be gratefully received

Thanks

Did you pay for premium processing? If not then it will take ages. Last month, loads of students were applying for tier 4 which was their first priority so it's no surprise that it's taking so long. Your MP can't help you. There's nothing you can do except wait sorry. It sucks but that's how it goes.
I tell it like it is.

No I did not see this was an option until after sending it, therefore have missed out on that one,

looking at the processing times, most in the previous months were processed within 30days, appreciate each one is different, but waiting around for so long is not on, especially given the amount we have to pay.

when you say 'ages' are we talking days months years? this is really getting us both down and we really want to get on with our lives together,

Ages means months. Does the applicant have a criminal record or any refused entries in the past?

No Record, no refusals, as much (or little) as my opinion is worth, i see no reason why our application would not be very straightforward

proof of who we are, marriage paperwork, proof of my good job and ownership of house, letters cards photos of us over the last 9years (as friends) 2years (as partners)

Having looked at the possibility of me going to the states as i understand it it would be harder (and longer 8months - 16YEARS) to be together. why is it so difficult for two people to live together, Nationality should not be a resisting factor?

If most were processed in 30 days, realistically you're only 5 days over that.

That is of course true, but having looked at recent stats and seeing the last few months most being done in 30 days, and thinking ours is straightforward i had hoped that we would have an answer by now, as far as we are aware no one has been contacted regarding our application and therefore i can only presume it has not even been looked at yet. i know, i know just sit tight but it is very stressful

Is anyone else on this site waiting for news from LA?

Thanks
