Qualification & Eng Points query - Senior Member Pls rep

Hi All,

I am thinking of applying for Tier1 again (after AR review is done for my wife current Tier1 application)

I need your help and guidance.

My Wife education and degrees are as mentioned below:


1) She completed 2 Year MBA Degree course from ITM Mumbai in June 2000 and was awarded with two degrees for this course in June 2000 as this course was in collaboration with a New Hampshire University, USA. The two awarded degrees for this course read as follows
First Degree:
- Institute for Technology and Management (recognised by AICTE, Govt of India) Certify that "<My Wife Name>" has completed the Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration program at mumbai India in June 2000
Second Degree:
- Institute for Technology and Management in Academic association with New Hampshire College Manchestor NH 03106, USA Certify that "<My Wife Name>" has completed the Master of Business Administration program at mumbai India in June 2000

Note that ITM Mumbai college is not mentioned in the PBS calculator and its deemed university so in my previous tier1 application PBS i had selected degree as Master Degree and university as Mumbai University with Subjects for Accounts, Economics, Business Administration etc.

2) My wife also have another one year post graduate degree from University of Rajasthan Jaipur passed in year 1998. The degree read as follow
- University of Rajasthan certifies that <My wife name> Daughter of <> has appeared for Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing Management(PGDMM) Exam in 1998 and was declared passed in First Division
Note that this University is present in PBS but Degree PGDMM is not present what best can be choosen is Degree = Masters Degree and Subjects = Professional Subjects in PBS (this selection was made in my previous tier1 application)

3) My wife also has another 3 years bachelors degree from University of Rajasthan passed in year 1997. The degree read as follows
- University of Rajasthan certifies that <My wife name> Daughter of <> has appeared for BSc Hons Part3 Exam in 1997 and was declared passed in First Division
Note that this University is present in PBS and also Degree = Bachelors Degree (Hons Special) is present in PBS (this selection was made in my previous tier1 application)

Facts from my previous Tier1 application for wife (whose result came two days ago)
The points for ITM MBA Degree was not awarded which I tried to claim as 40 and UKBA mentioned that NARAIC certificate is not present. Since i submitted all the other degrees and marksheet as well so they awarded 30 points towards the third degree i.e. BSC Hons degree only and same degree was also used by them to award 10 points for English qualification as well

This means the UKBA has not considered the second masters degree of my wife PGDMM though the university is listed in PBS only the exact matching course subject is not listed.

Now my Queries related to new Tier1 application package preparation is:
Q1. In order to claim 40 points for ITM MBA qualification. I guess i would need NARAIC certificate. Do I need to take any precaution with respect to how fresh is the UK NARIAC evaluation meaning is there any guidelines which mentions that the UK NARIAC evaluation should be issued within 30 days window from the date of visa application filing?
Q2. If for Qualification I am claiming points for MBA degree then for English language requirement can i claim points by mentioning BSC HONS degree?
Q3. My wife has sufficient points with respect to salary and ideally if i do not claim points towards masters degree even then she would qualify. Please guide me is it worth going to UK NARIC keeping in mind that this would pay me rewards in future during Tier1 extension? Please guide me I am ready to take pains and extra precaution if you think this would benefit in future.

1. You may apply for Statement of comparability. Send ITM certificate (one with no mention of US body).
2. Yes.
3. It is entirely your wish if you want to include masters level qualification in the application or not. Higher points don't mean higher rate of success! Also, you are assuming that NARIC will certify PGDBM qualification as equivalent to UK's masters level .... and it might not be so! You'll know for sure only when you receive the statement of comparability.

Thank you so much dear for the response

I have decided to use BSC Hons degree towards Qualification and English Points claim. (rather than any other two degrees)

I am regretting now why I have not visited this forum earlier.
