Switching from Tier 4 to Tourist Visa from UK

Hey,

I would like to know whether it is possible to legally switch from a Tier 4 student visa to a Tourist visa from WITHIN the UK. I understand that it will have to return to my home country at the end. I have some stuff to do in UK (not employment related) after my Student Visa expires on the 12th of November and for that I would like to seek a tourist visa without leaving the country (Since I am not being issued a CAS number by my University). If it's possible please point me to the link on the UKBA or another relevant website where it says I can do so.
