SWITCH TO TIER 1 GENERAL FROM TIER 1 PSW

I am currently in UK residing under the Tier 1 Post Study Work Visa after completing my university education under the Tier 4 Student Visa. The current Visa is due to expire soon and I am thinking of applying for the Tier 1 General Visa. My parents are also in the UK under the Tier 1 General (HSMP) Visa and will receive a ILR Visa in 2012. I am over 18/21 years old and would like to know if it is possible to apply as a dependent of my parents when they are extending/applying their visa to the ILR status from the current Tier 1 General Visa. The extension due is, however, after my current visa expires so I would like to know in which category I should apply in order to remain in the UK after my current visa expires - Tier 1 General / Tier 1 Entrepreneur?
