Need information on funds maintenance

Post by vkbindu21 » Mon Oct 25, 2010 8:22 am

Hi
I am planning to apply for tier 1 visa.
I have my savings spread across multiple accounts and also in a joint account.
Can i show the joint account savings as proof for fund maintenance.

Another query regarding the fixed deposit.
I have an FD which was opened in Aug, 2010 and it a term deposit FD.
Can this alos be part of fund maintenance?

Can anyone help me with these queries?
Thanks inadvance for your help

FD can be used.
Joint account can be used.

IF you plan to show Multiple accounts as proof, then the UKBA office strangely and incorrectly adds:

Min(acct A) + Min (acct B) + Min (acct C).... to find out the minimum amount held by the applicant.

So to avoid filing an AR, make sure you show account statements with same start date and end date and take letters from the bank stating the minimum balance in the accounts.

Summing up the individual minimum amounts, if the amount arrived by summation is > 2800 GBP, then you are good to go.
Thanks,
Sumit.

@neosumit

IMO FD can NOT be used for fund maintenance.

Hi

Thanks for your response.
Could you please provide more info on min(account A) + min(account B)?
Not very clear on how this min amt is calculated if i show multiple accounts as a proof for funds.

What is the doubt in this? Isn't it trivial?

Lets say, you show all accounts for a period starting on StratDate and ending on EndDate, covering three consecutive months, with EndDate not more than 30 days before the date of application.

For each account, the minimum shown account balance between StartDate and EndDate is what the above is referred to.
