Travel Date

Hi,

I applied from Pakistan on 15th Oct, but haven't received back my passport yet, since the October limit for visas was over, now I see guys from India who applied as recently as 22nd Oct getting the visas as soon as Nov started.

I put the 'Date you want to travel to UK' as '1st Jan 2011' on the form, do they consider that as well while deciding who gets the visa first? or is it only the date of your application?

Also if the application is rejected is it normally returned quicker than the approved case?

but I dont really get what they are saying there.

"The ECO should check the applicant's visa application form (VAF) for the proposed date of travel in order to prevent unnecessary applications for an extension of stay, and possible claims for a refund of the extension fee."

Extension of stay? I am going there for the 1st time, and I applied on 15 Oct 2010 putting the date of travel to 1st Jan 2011, I thought it was a reasonable date and all the processing can be done in the mean while, was this a mistake? what do people usually put in travel date?
