ILR Query

Hello Everyone,

First of all I thank the forum for providing useful information to the immigrants.

My situation

1. I have been in the UK from Oct-2005 till Jul-2009 in workpermit
2. I switched to T1 in Jul-2009 which is valid till Jul-2012

I have completed 5 years now (both WP+T1). Never been out of UK for more than 6 months in total and not more than 90 days in any one time.

Passed LIUK and I am appearing in person for ILR.

Now my questions are

1. What are the supporting documents required?
2. Will there be any interview?

1- Please read SET(o) form which is details all documents required. In addition it is useful to have employer letter for absences out of UK. Do a search on forum there are lots of threads.

2- Depends if u apply by post or in person. If in person, then u will see case worker face to face but then what questions are asked are anyone's guess. However for genuine applications there is nothing to worry about at all. ILR is not like Student visa or SET (M) visa where they put more emphasis on finding whether the candidate is genuine or not. For sET (O) if u can prove ur legal stay for 5 years (visas + proof of employemnt - ideally P60s for all 5 years) there is nothing to worry about.

What i meant was that ILR though SET(O) is usually straightforward than SET(m)/Student application.

For someone like OP who has clear work history and can demonstrate this then there is very little documentatioin required on the day.

For SET(M) there are many more documents asked for and case worker needs to be satisfied that you are actually living togather with your partner as well and application is genuine. Genuiness is much easier to demonstrate for SET(o) form e.g. by 5 years P60 and employer letter.

SET (M) is slightly more time consuming / trickier application. But again, as with all UK visas, if you meet all requirement, have legitimate application and have documentation then there is absolutely nothing to worry about.

Thanks for all your help.

Glad to inform you that my ILR has been granted.

Had all the documents and was not a problem.

The only query I had was about my son's birth certificate. The original copy itself is a PDF available in the website. Took a printout of that. When the case worker tried to check the website, it didn't work. Asked him to check the passport where the DOB, parents name, birth place are specified.
He accepted it.

After 3 hours waiting, was granted ILR.
