hi there! you can say a lot about each country, but the first thing that comes to my mind is: unlike canada, uk DO NOT grant you permanent residence from the day one after you step onto its ground. i didn't realize how much difference that really makes until i went to uk under hsmp program after getting my canadian pr card. more than that, when i applied for hsmp, i was very naive and didn't think about that at all.
apparently, the difference is huge. after 1 year of me being in the uk they changed the rules for getting the equivalent of permanent residence permit here for after 5 years of continuous stay in the country. that means: during those 5 years you will have to pay for your study as a non-uk resident. that also means that for those 5 years you won't get a normal mortgage rate. and that is british pounds we are talking about! and the worst part is - employers here are soooo clueless about immigration rules in their own country, you need to be an einstein sometimes to explain to your interviewer that hsmp already IS a work permit in their precious country.
Hope that helps.
