Tier 1: REfused

Post by khanm » Mon Nov 15, 2010 3:22 pm

Hi all,
I applied for Tier1: General in July based on employment and self employment but I got refused unfortunately. The reasons were that Letter stating my UTR number was not on original letter head from HMRC ( i got the online print and stamped by my accountant), secondly they were unable to saw my last maintenance bank statement ( they missed it and considered business bank statement as my maintenance). There was no right of appeal so I went for preaction protocol. I again received a refusal in which home office stated that they reasons for refusal sent earlier were incorrect and new reason is that I haven't provided two proofs for self employment (they accepted my UTR this time). Secondly mantainence was one day late as I send docs on 5 JUly and and my maintenance was covering uptill 4 may. I can agree with the last point but i cannot agree with others. I provided my UTR and business bank statements, invoices to proof my self employment. What do i need to do now. I will be applying in december again not sure what HO will do as i have to send same docs again. Some one told me that I had to take liability insurance. is that correct.
A feedback will highly be appreciated.

Reading para 141(vi)-141(ix) and para 142(i)-142(vii) of the policy guidance should help.

Reapply in Dec and your the outcome of your last application should not affect your fresh application as long as evidence are not contradicted.

thanks guys for the response,

sushdmehta: I had already given business bank statements but there was no letter from bank along with the UTR so what do u think was that enough for rejection.

I am working as IT contractor, can you please tell me do i really need employers liability insurance as I am working alone. If yes then any recommedations on which company is good for insurance.
secondly, If i send the letter from the bank and business bank statements, would that be alright.

Thanks

Try to search on google for Employers liability insurance and u'll find some cheap quotes. It could cost u around £60, £70. Plus as far as my knowledge is concerned in ur application u need to mention that u have employed atleast 1 person (u don't need to nominate anyone but it will be mentioned on ur insurance certificate) and the insurance will cover two of u.
