ILR information needed

Post by marley2005 » Wed Apr 26, 2006 11:50 am

hi everyone,
I am an Algerian on Spouse visa in the UK, my question is I had my visa issued the 21st of Nov 2005 , I came to the uk on the 23rd of Dec , it is nearly a month , would this month be a problem when applyign for ILR , do I have to apply for an extension for one month or it would be soncidered as being out of the uk and counted wiht the 90 days that i am allowed to be away from the uk.

please advise

Not sure where you got the 90 days from?

However, if you apply for your ILR by post, and apply shortly before the expiry date of 21st November 2007 then I would not expect you to encounter any problem getting your ILR.

But certainly do ensure that you do apply before the stated expiry date of your current visa.

Can I ask, have you succeeded in getting a job now?

dear john,

since my arrival on the 23rd of Dec till now, i have applied for many many jobs and registered wiht many many agencies but still jobless, most of them keep saying we need a reference from the uk , i have loads of letters here about saying sorry we can't offer you the job because your experience is not whiting the uk, i am really thinking to go bck and find a job in algeria . i don't know where they get this law from coz i never heard about it . i am really confused, i even applied for picking/packing jobs but i heard the same thing. on the other hand i feel i am breachign the law because i have no money and i am supposed to sponsor my wife .

please any advise on this would be helpful

Marley, so sorry to hear you are still unemployed. Have you tried the nearest Job Centre+? They should be able to help you, at least to get something.

well John,
I have been to job centres and registered my details, i got a NI number , I receive calls from agencies about work but still nothing positive. But please explain to me is my situation anywhere near Breaching the rules? what if i find a job in Algeria like the one i had before 4weeks on and 4 weeks off will this be a struggle to get ILR later ? I did not read posts like mine I really need clarification on this , i do feel i am breaching the law here.
