Applying for Tier 4 visa outside of country of residence?

Post by elizabeth88 » Wed Nov 17, 2010 7:55 pm

Hi there. Does anyone know if it is possible to apply for a Tier 4 visa outside your country of residence?

I am a US student going to study in the UK next semester. I am afraid if by the time I get my biometrics done and send out my passport, I will not receive it back by the time I'm due to depart the States (December 30).

However there will be roughly two weeks between my date of departure and the start of my course that I want to spend in Ireland. Is there any chance I can get it done at the British Embassy in Dublin?

Thanks all!

If you will be in Ireland as a visitor, then no. See ECB5 Where to apply - the policy.

And the process of applying a UK visa in Ireland is similar to that in US (through Worldbridge). Like you suspect that you may not get a visa in 6 weeks in US it may be unlikely that you get it within 2 weeks in Ireland.

Thanks for your response sushdmehta! I talked to some friends who said they got their passports back in about 2 weeks so I think I'm just being paranoid.

Cheers!
