Query about English Medium Degree

Post by vikas_ietdavv » Sun Nov 21, 2010 5:06 pm

Hi,
I have done my bachelor degree [B. E. - Computer] from IET Devi Ahilya VishvaVidyalaya, Indore.

I am planning to file for HSMP - Tier - 1 Visa.

In points calculator I am able to get points on my bachelor degree but when I try to get points under english language section I am not able to score any points even though I can see my university name in the list.

Now to score point can I submit a letter from my university on legal stamp paper mentioning that my bachelor degree [B.E.] was taught in english.

Or if I will enquire by UN-NARIC database will they provide me the letter for the same that degree was taught in English?

Or Do I need to appear for IELTS exam explicitly?

No, you will have to do the IELTS exam. The fact that the calculator awards 0 points means that even though the degree might have been taught in English, it does not comply to specific requirements (C1 on the CEFR for English).

NARIC recognises the degree, just not the level of English it was presented in.

This is strange actually. I can see the same on the points calculator. Since no points there, you might need to take IELTS test.
i tried your university with durations 3-4 years and 4-5 years. both giving 0 points.

Hi,

Would like to know if getting a letter from Naric worked for you or you'd take IELTS ? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Rahul
