IMP query on Passport expiry

hi all,

im planning to apply for tier1 next week and assuming im granted a visa i wud prefer that to happen from march 2011

now if tat happens then it would be valid till march 2013

assuming that extensions are allowed & i qualify i wud then be granted a 3 yr visa which wud take it to march 2016

now wat im confused abt is my passport expires in feb 2015 so
--> wud i be allowed to apply for an extension ?
--> or wud my application be rejected straight away since my passport isn't valid till 2016?
--> or wud i have to apply for a new passport b4 i cud go ahead and apply for the extension

please throw some light on this.... thnx

thnx for ur reply sushdmehta, but if i submit my passport without renewing it will the visa be stamped ?

Yes, as long as it is valid when you apply, you can use the passport. Once your passport then expires, you just have to travel with your valid and expired passport with the visa in. Alternatively and at a cost, you can ask them to transfer your visa, but it's not a requirement. You can just travel with both.
