Tier 4 Student/Certificate of Marriage?

Post by london26 » Mon Dec 13, 2010 12:17 am

Hiya everyone,

I am currently a Ph.D. student from the USA in the UK.. My course does not end till 2014 so I will be in the UK awhile. I have also did my Masters here so I have been here for a few years already. I have a fiance he is British (been together for 2 years and we live together) and we both want get married within the coming year. After reading through the certificate of marriage approval is there anyway to marry or do we have to wait 3 years till the last 3 months before my visa expires ?? I don't see any other options for our situation was just wondering if we should seek any legal advice to discuss our options. I am not sure if anyone else has been in this situation...

If anyone knows anything please just write.. Thank you! :) :) :)

Can I get married or register a civil partnership in the UK? wrote:The rules on certificates of approval do not currently apply if you plan to get married at an Anglican church in England or Wales, after marriage banns or with a religious licence.

Or wait for the scheme to be abolished, or marry outside UK (e.g. - USA).

Also, you can apply for the COA now. No need to wait three years.
I tell it like it is.
