VAF9 Form - Date of travel to UK

Post by ankitgoel26 » Tue Dec 14, 2010 4:12 am

Hi,

I am applying for Tier 1 (General) visa out of UK and need your advice / opinion on the following matter.

In the VAF9 form, the first thing required is to mention the date you wish to travel to UK. I am planning to fill it as 01st April 2011.

Someone advised me to mention the travel date for 1 or 1 and half month after the date of application. If you put 3 months later date, you might get the travel date to be effective immediately after the application approval.

Reason I want to mention date of 3 months later is because I don't wish to travel before that and I dont wan't to loose out on those months (which might become problem during renewal time).

Please help!

Kind Regards,
Ankit

Your visa can only be post-dated for up to 90 days. If you choose a date after the 90 days period, which the officer is not allowed to use, they usually revert back to today's date. So, just make sure that the date between application and travel is no more than 90 days. I am not sure about post-dating a visa to 1 April either - to be on the safe side I would personally choose 31 March :P (just because of all the changes happening in April, I'd prefer to fall under March).

Thanks mulderpf.

I will apply for travel date no later than 90 days in that case :)
