register marriage outside the UK

Post by Kurnur » Tue Dec 21, 2010 12:35 pm

Hi,

I applied for COA two months ago (my application is very straightforward) and still have been waiting for... The last news I heard, was that there is a huge backlog in HO with COA and it would take more than 4 months to get it... Now I am thinking about getting married abroad, for example in Maldives or Seychelles. Does anybody know if UK will consider such marriage legal and I would not have any problems with my further spouse visa? I failed to find relevant info at HO website...

Thank you!

For a marriage to be considered legal in the UK, it must be legal according to the laws of the country in which it is solemnized / registered.
