Sponsoring family members for a visit

Post by nishsil » Thu Dec 23, 2010 12:16 pm

Hi all,

I have a question on sponsoring my mother, my wife's mother & wife's sister to visit UK for 2 week holiday in next summer. I'm a ILR visa holder and my wife is under 2 year spouse visa category who came to UK last January.

My question is can my wife sponsor all three of them to come to UK for the visit because she has a better salary than me and a reasonable job with reasonable bank account balance unlike mine?

I'm in doubt whether 2 year spouse visa holder is allowed to sponsor family members to come to UK for a 2 week visit!

Thanking you all for the advises...

Hi there

There are no requirements for the family members in the UK (for general family visitors) to be 'present and settled in the UK. see http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/polic ... les/part2/

This means that the sponsor does not need to have ILR.

Please note however that if there are any children coming as visitors there are more documents you need to provide.
