Query on travel & extension

Post by tbnag » Thu Jan 06, 2011 10:06 am

Hi,
I got the Tier 1 (General) visa yesterday ie 5th Jan'11(valid till 5th Jan'13).I am planning to travel after 8 months.
I know that i have to go for 2 extensions to complete continuous 5 yrs period to apply for ILR. I have few queries here-

1.Will i be allowed into UK if i travel after 8 months or i need to travel right now just to say that i am present?
2.How many years are given for 2nd extension. If it is 3 yrs, then can i apply for ILR once i fulfill continuous 5 yrs in UK?

Kindly answers my queries !!

Regards,
tbnag

Your 5 years lawful residence starts from when you start living in the UK not from when your visa starts.

You usually get 3 years after having completed the initial 2 years leave. See immigration rule 245D
