German work permit

German work permit

I've accompanied my husband to Germany from India. He is on a work permit(for 3 years) while I hold a dependant visa for the same period. I now want to work for the same employer, can I work on the dependant visa or should I apply for a work permit? If I need a work permit, can I apply for the same in Germany itself without having to go back to India?

I think that dependents are allowed to work without a separate permit. Not sure though.

But I'm quite sure you don't have to go back to India to get it.
