UK Marriage/spouse Visa

Post by Anton009 » Thu Jan 20, 2011 11:22 pm

Hi everyone!

Basically my girlfriend and I would like to get married and apply for UK Spouse Visa. (She is currently living in Russia)

I have a British passport, but the problem is that I am a student studying for Master Degree (4yrs). My girlfriend was offered a job in London (well paid). So basically the idea is that she wants to live in London and work, while I will live in Nottingham (with my parents) to finish my studies. (I have 3.5 years left, I have recently started)
We plan to see each other on weekends.

So the question is, will there be difficulties in receiving UK spouse Visa, because we plan to live at separate addresses for about 3 years? And will there be problems later on, when she will apply for ILR. (As far as I know we have to live together for 2 years in order for this?)

Thanks for any advice.

Yes you will have problems getting the spouse visa as one of the requirements is that you will be living together at the same address. ILR will not be possible to obtain as you need to show proof of bills and such coming to the same address.

Accommodation must be available and suitable for the married couple and any dependents to live in.

The link posted post by Ivan is someway behind time ( over 2 yrs I reckon)

This is what it says about age of spouse
UK Mariage / Spousal Visa - How old must we be?
Currently the legislation states applicants must be 18, however, plans are in place for this to be raised to 21
