Query regarding the bank statement dates

Hello,

Please accept my sincere apologies, if this topic is irrelevant to this section. I've referred many posts, but unable to find the related answer.

I've came to UK on Tier-2 visa on July 2010. I'm getting salery both UK as well as in India. Initially my UK salery has been paid to a Travel card account for three months, later this has been updated to HSBC, UK.

I'm planning to apply for Tier-1 visa from UK in the month of March. And checked in the UKBA site that the bank statements should not be less than 30 days from the date of application. But my friends are telling that I can apply for the travel card statement now itself (>30days). Is it true?

Can I request the travel card bank to issue me the statement now? :?:

They are correct. Only your latest statement must be less than 30 days old.
