is life in the Uk certificate acceptable for FLR(M)?

Hi everyone, can someone tell me if the Life in the Uk certificate is acceptable for FLR(M) extension applications?.... I have read the guidance and it states that one has to show knowledge of life in the UK but the list of acceptable certificates / providers only states english courses and not the life in the uk.

To comply with the new regulations, you will need to pass the A1 English test before applying for FLR(M) unless you are from one of the exempt Countries. A list of UK providers is shown on the UKBA website. The Life in the UK test is needed for ILR not FLR. The KOL test isn't a test of English language as such...it's showing an understanding of life in the UK.
The A1 test has been introduced for Spouses to demonsrate they have a basic understanding of English. It's required for pre-entry and FLR(M) extensions.

Thank you. I was told that after main (tier 2) applicant acquires Permanent residence, then the dependant partner will have to switch into spouse category afterwards and start her qualifying period from date of spouse visa. Is this correct?

p.s. partner has not been in uk for two years yet when main applicant got PR.
