How many points required for in counry extension

Post by Pranvayu » Tue Feb 08, 2011 12:52 pm

Hello all,

My Tier 1 application was granted in Dec 2010 for 2 years and I had claimed the following:

Age: 5 (37 at application)
Qual: 30 (B.Com)
Earning: 75
English: 10 (IELTS Bank 7.5)
Maintenance: 10

I'm now doing calculations for extension in 2012 and based on my calculations I would require UK Income of 65K inorder to secure 40 points. Earning 65K in UK isn't an easy ordeal and wanted to check if my calculations are correct? 95 Points would be required for extension as:

Age: 0 (I'll be 39 in 2012)
Qual: 30
UK Exper: 5
Earning: 40 (would require 65K since my application was post July 2010)
English: 10
Maintenance: 10

Please can I check if the calculations are correct and if there is any way for me to claim points for Age or any way of getting more points for Earnings?

Cheers,

wf

Use the points calculator to determine what actual points you will be awarded.

You should find you will be awarded the same points for your age as when you first applied.

Aside from those and the UK expereince points, you will most likely have to earn around 60k due to your age at initial application.

The earnings requirements were raised significantly when the masters requirement was removed, unfortunately you will not have the benefit of an uplift ratio when applying for your extension.

Guess what ..... MOST of the people EASILY qualify for initial application as they apply from home country with 5.2 multiplier factor.

Now when you apply in-country extention ball game is different and tough. E.g. for in-country initial application many don't qualify with just UK salary (specially T2 visa holder) .. so you can imagine

Hi Pkumar and wf for your input,

WF you've mentioned that I should still get 5 points for Age but I've double checked and for extension you don't get anything for being either 37 or 39. Please can you provide links or info which states otherwise.

Many thanks for your views.

As I said earlier, use the points calculator.

See help on age points where you will notice the obvious correlation between points awarded at inital application and at extension.

The points one can score on basis of age at the time of extension application are mentioned in the policy guidance under clause(s) 67-72.
