28 Days Rule - Clarification Please

Post by ptl141 » Tue Feb 08, 2011 9:04 pm

Hi,

Just need some clarification. My partner has been granted her settlement visa. It has been dated from 27th Jan 2011 until 27th April 2013.

My question is does she need to come within 28 days from the 27th Jan 2011 or has the ruling changed?

Thanks in advance.

There is no rule or a ruling that states that a person must travel to / enter UK within 28 days of visa issuance.

It is just that if one has been issued a 27 month spouse / settlement visa but does not travel to / enter UK within 3 months of visa issuance, he/she may need to apply for an extension before becoming eligible for settlement. Hence, it is advisable that one travels within 3 months to avoid unnecessary costs and hassle of applying for an extension.
