UK Unmarried Partner Visa

Post by addictive_mate » Tue Feb 08, 2011 6:08 am

Hi Guys,

I have been in a relationship with my partner who is a British citizen for more than 4 years now. However, I used to live at a separate address due to work commitments until January 2010 when I moved to her house and have been living togetehr since then. Can I apply for unmarried partner visa as I have documentry proof of living together for 14 months and other proof that we have beein inr elationship for more than 4 years such as telephone bills, european holiday tickets etc?

Your help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

You'll need the full 24 months living together at the same address in a 'relationship akin to marriage'...i.e showing joint commitments you would expect to see with a married couple. Joint tenancy, finances etc. More than proof that holidays have been spent together and that you phone each other regularly.
What visa status do you have at present?

Thanks a lot for your reply! I am currently on Tier 1(General). There's no chance I can apply for Unmarried aprtner visa if we've bin libving together for 14 months?

I was visitng her often and calling her while i was living in another city due to work?

Thanks!

14 months is 10 short of 24 and that's quite a bit of a risk. Personally I wouldn't apply. Dating each other and visiting is different to living together. Living together in immigration terms requires proof of things being sent to your house in both names.

In any case she would be applying as a dependant on your visa, rather than as an unmarried partner.

The same 24 month requirement applies in both cases.

OP is a Tier 1 (General) migrant and OP's partner is a British citizen.
