Applying for spouse visa, have question about marriage cert

Post by sid2003 » Sun Feb 13, 2011 1:19 pm

Hey there ladies and gents.

This forum has helped alot in the past with info for when I was getting married.
I am a UK citizen from birth and im married to and indonesian woman.
We married in indonesia and are both muslim and had a relious wedding.
My wife is on the Tier 1 system and now wants to apply for the spouse visa,
but when it asked for the marriage certificate or civil cert, will they still accept our relious certificate.

Thanks

Simon

Is the marriage certificate an official document of Indonesia?.Was your marriage carried out within the law of the country?, If so its fine.

If it is not in English then you will need to get it translated and hand teh original and translated one with your application

You keep missing the g out of religious

Yes it is an offiacial document and we have a translated document too.

That is good news then.
And thanks for the spelling correction, i was in a state of panic after reading other stories on here.

Thanks

There is no need to panic as you have followed the laws of the country.
The Home Office is in place to assist those who wish to immigrate to the UK and follow its rules.
If you are here illegally then you have no status and then panic sets in and you have an indeterminable wait for an outcome

does that mean if you're from pakistan, a registered nikah nama at nadra is sufficient because ive been told that the translated nikah nama has to go to british high comission for attestation. is that true?
