Transferring residence permit to new passport with convistio

Post by caronn » Sun Feb 13, 2011 4:04 pm

My son immigrated to the UK on an ancestry visa in 2001, got residence permit in 2006, got a community order for affray in 2008 then lost his passport. We have now got a new SA passport and want to have the residence permit put into his new passport to prove he is eligible to work in the UK, NTL form needs to be completed but there is the question of his conviction. Details will be provided but will this stop him from getting the NTL stamp. No stamp no work so really appreciate some guidance here. Is it the case that as he already has the residence permit it is purely a matter of transferring to his new passport and declaring the conviction?

It may affect the application but what can you do? He can't obviously lie on the form and he needs the stamp anyway. I think just apply and declare it. Cross your fingers and pray! Perhaps include a cover letter with the application and try to explain?
