But it is not just the look of the website that has changed, it is the location of the webserver as well. I have the Netcraft extension installed on my Firefox and that shows the location of the server. Useful as an anti-phishing tool. So I can see that the webserver of
www.ind.homeoffice.gov.uk has moved. That fact alone could well explain why it is now a lot quicker.
Edit : the main
www.homeoffice.gov.uk website has also moved the location of its webserver ..... but to a different location as the
www.ind.homeoffice.gov.uk website. The
www.workingintheUK.gov.uk website, which was at the same place as the two just mentioned, remains unmoved ... at this time anyway.
No doubt they are playing the "spread the load around" game .... which can't be bad given that they clearly could not cope previously.
