Thank you for sharing your experience here. there are a couple of questions I would like to ask you about the form:

I want to apply it on my own as I think its a straightforward application and hiring a professional will take same amount of time still.

There is a question on the form which asks - whether you want to stay in the UK after marriage(with coa granted) - what did you answer for it ?

Also, the final pages of the form asks for bank information - since I am the applicant that means I need to fill in just the one for applicant?

Which other docs did u attach - its just new photos of both and passports since we both have it with us.

Do you think it will make a difference as to how much time you have known each other for in the UK will be an issue.. how much time was it in your case? ..

Did you put in any other information or covering letter etc ? The only way to send it is by Post only to Durham address ?

I agree but others have recommended getting it done by a solictor which will cost a bit. We did it ourselves as there was nothing complicated on the form.

Just be honest. We said "No - go back to my fiance's home country after contract ends in the UK". The UK is not what it used to be. Perhaps we'll come back but we can't plan that far ahead - let us get married first then I tell you!

Just sign the applicant bits. If the other sections apply, e.g. someone sharing the utility bill/bank account, then get them to sign it too to give HO permission to check.

Just photos and both passports. I added a cover letter to ask them to kindly return the passports in the enclosed special delivery envelope as heard others included one but it got returned 2nd class recorded! They better do or I'm gonna complain.

This is not asked for in the basic form but they may ask for more information. Personally I would give them the finger but they need a way to judge if it's a sham marriage or not so if you've only known each other for 1 week, they might get suspicious. About 3 years for us.

If you have nothing extra to add, just send off the form and required documents. It must be by post to a PO box, annoyingly.
