Unmarried Partner Visa

Looking at other visa options -

My partner and I have been living together and going out for just over 1 year 6 months, is there a way to extend the visa I am currently on for 6 months, which ends in April 3rd week - until September so that we might be able to apply for the unmarried partner visa?

Ideally I would go for a Tiered visa, but I am waiting to hear from my employer so I am exploring other options.
