Work Permit in addition to Business Permission?

Post by siremethmimetes » Tue Mar 01, 2011 5:00 pm

Greetings,

I am wanting to get a work permit in Ireland for a job, while simultaneously gaining significant income (possibly equal to my work permit job) from publishing books as an author. Is this at all, in any way possible?

(Please do not respond with critiques about the efficacy of this plan or the unlikelihood of being able to earn money from publishing: I know, and that isn't what this thread is about.)

Thanks for your help! This really means a whole lot to me.

From the legal point of view, you are not allowed to work unless you got some kind of work permit. So this may lead to an interesting situation -- what to do with any additional income? I am pretty sure that the immigration laws of Ireland do not over this situation.

You have to pay the relevant tax on your additional income. As long as you do that, you have a strong hand to play in the very unlikely case the immigration services ask you about your additional income.

And if I get a work permit, they can't complain about me stealing jobs from the Irish. The extra work is art, and they like art.
