leave for 2 or 3 years?

Post by nafe12 » Tue Mar 22, 2011 6:02 pm

For some reason, I thought that an initial (switching from PSW) Tier 1 (G) application was for three years. At least I've read this in a few posts.

Though on the website it says:
How long will I be able to stay in the UK?
The visa will be issued for a maximum period of two years.
If it is only two years, it makes the last minute application less appealing (given my current leave expires next year)...

Thanks.

So a switch from Tier 1 PSW -> Tier 1 G is 2 years.
And (if granted) a subsequent renewal for the Tier 1 G will be 3 years.
Right?

I take it your on psw visa? Tier 1(g) will close indefinetly after 6th April 2011 so switching to one will not be possible.

Ps, spending time on PSW visa doesn't count towards 5 years residency needed to qualify for ILR.

Yes, that's right.

I realise I'd have to switch before Apr 6th.
Though when my PSW expires in 2012, it really only gives me an extra year.

However, a Tier 1 (g) before Apr 6th is renewable for another three years, right?
