Class 2 NI contributions

Post by ti_abbasi2002 » Fri Feb 25, 2011 1:57 am

I have received direct debit form(which I returned back). Today, I also received NI contributions quarterly bill which is £28.80 ( says : "Arrears owed prior to 9/01/2011"). I am confused because in that bill they wrote " National Insurance Contributions Bill" rather than Class 2 NI Contributions Bill. I think it is OK but just want to confirm from u guys before paying.

Thanks in advance and keep it up. U r doing great job.

Hi Sushil ACCA, I hope you can help we with this. I am Director of my own Limited Company and earn money through salary+dividends. My query is regarding Class 2 NI payments. So far I have not made a payment under NI and not sure what I need to do to register for a quarterly/monthly debit payment. Could you please clarify? Thanks!

Thanks for your quick reply.

I have just confirmed with my accountant that I am liable to pay Class 1 (NOT Class 2) NI Contributions and for HMRC purposes I am not viewed as Self-Employed.

But looking at the forum there seem to have been several applicants whose Self-Employed/Non-Self-Employed status was confused by UKBA. (Some were asked to provide Class2 evidence even though they were directors of Limited Company). What is your view on this?

Thanks
