Multiple questions/assumptions, Please Advice

Post by khhnese » Tue Jul 04, 2006 10:58 am

Hi all supporting friends here....

I got very frustrated with Home Office's responses regarding to my possibly lost document along with the approval letter. HO told me that they returned my document on April 25. I've called/emailed serveral times to ask whether they can send the approval letter again, but they insist that are not able to take any action until I wait for up to 12 weeks. I don't believe that it takes 12 weeks to deliver by airmail. One month is long enough and if it's lost already, the sooner I take actions, the better it is. The following are some questions/assumptions I have:

1. Will there any compensation for losing document from Home office?
2. If I claim the losting document, how soon they will issue a decision letter to me? another 3-months waiting?
3. If due to the lost approval letter I'm not able to apply for EC within 3 months, will they extend the date of applying EC for my case?

Please advice me how to approach Home Office; any advice/experience are welcome.

Many Thanks ~

If the Home Office have lost your documents then you can claim compensation from them, however, if they were lost in transit you can't.

They normally wait for the letter to expire before they issue another (to stop fraudulent EC applications), this could indicate that you have passed as they are usually quite happy to send another rejection letter.

If they issue another letter you will get a fresh 3/6 months to apply for EC.
