If you have the points and can prove it, is it guaranteed?

Post by giblet » Thu Jul 06, 2006 6:21 am

Hi,

I've been reading this board for a while, and I still can't figure it out. If I have the points (I can get between 70-80, depending on how much of my work experience will count) and can provide the documentation, is the visa virtually guaranteed?

What I don't understand is if there is some mysterious other factor that goes into the decision. With college applications, you grades and test scores count, but there are also undefinable other factors such as personality and extra-curricular activities. Is the HSMP the same, or is it entirely on points?

I want to apply, but am not sure if it's worth it if my chances are low.

Thanks for any advice you may be able to offer, I appreciate it!

It also goes on the other questions on the form, the ones that don't carry points.

Things like if you can't speak English but can't show you don't need to, that kind of thing.
