Question about Certificate of Approval to marry

Post by soulboy25 » Fri Apr 29, 2011 10:43 pm

Hi,

I'm in UK on PSW soon switching to TIER2

My Girl friend is lives in Europe and we want to get married in few months. She is coming to UK to live with me and I wont be depending on her. According to UKBA Because I'm under immigration control I need a Certificate from Home Office. However UKBA website suggests I no longer need a certificate cause it will be abolished from 9th of May.

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... ion-of-coa

(P.S: We're very much in love and no BS illegal stuff)

So If i go to Registry office and provide them with mine & her unmarried certificates and passport copies it should be fine ?

Please advise. Thank you.

Yes, but you will both be interviewed by the Registrar to confirm that the marriage is genuine.

Thank you mate for your reply.

At what time we will be interviewed ? I mean if i submit my documents will they ask us to come for an interview on a specific date or will it be on the date of marriage ?

What sort of proof we need ?

We been together for around 6 months. I'm visiting her soon (Got visa proof) and she has visited me.

Thanks for your reply.

You'll need to check with the registrar where the wedding will take place.
I believe the interviews generally involve the couple being asked questions about the relationship.
