Hi
I am a Swiss National living in South Africa and would like to relocate to Scotland early next year. Since I married a South African woman in March of this year I am told she needs to apply for an EEA Family Permit to be able to join me in Scotland.
Having done a lot of research (with limited success from talking directly with the British Embassy) I have found that she needs to prove that she has enough funds to support herself, work, medical cover, accomodation and a valid passport. I have also be advised that I should write a "letter of sponsorship/invitiation" to the Embassy stating that I want to go over with her.
I would like some clarification on the following (which I can't find in any posts on this forum thus far):
1. Do I need to prove my relationship to my wife beyond a full
marriage certificate?
2. Do I or she need to have "sufficient funds" in one of our bank accounts
for any specific time (they want 3 months statements)?
3. If the required funds were sponsored by a 3rd party, would that be
accepted by the British Embassy?
4. A local SA/UK agency has given us a letter as proof that they will
secure us employment in Scotland (live-in hotel work) before our
departure in January. Since both the work and accomodation will
only be arranged by the agency around December, would that cause
any issues with the British Embassy?
5. Besides the above & both our Passports, what else would we need
to include in the VAF1 application?
Thanks for all the help.
