How to apply

You can apply for a visa in 8 steps.

Step 1 - Check if you need a visa

Non-European Economic Area family members, known as visa nationals must get a European Economic Area family permit before they travel to the UK or if they are coming to the UK to live with the European Economic Area national permanently or on a long-term basis. The European Economic Area family permit is issued free of charge. Non-European Economic Area family members may apply for it under the conditions that they are travelling with the European Economic Area national , or joining the European Economic Area national in the UK. If you wish to travel to the UK independently of the European Economic Area national, and you are not already in the UK, they will need to pay for a visa in accordance with normal UK Immigration rules.
