Will obtaining a student Visa cancel my 5 years visitor visa

Post by arizona45 » Wed May 18, 2011 7:59 pm

I hold a multiple-visit visitor visa that is valid till 2016. However, I will be applying for a Tier 4 Student visa for my 1 year postgraduate degree in UK.
Will my visitor visa need to be canceled? If so, would I have to re-apply for visitor visa after having finished my studies (will I pay again the application fee?) ?

Can I have more than one visa? wrote:It is not possible to hold more than one visa or entry clearance.
1. If you are granted leave as Tier 4 migrant, your visitor visa will become invalid (on its own).
2. If you wish to travel to UK as a visitor in the future, you'll have to apply for entry clearance again ... and pay the associated fees.

Thanks for your quick response. Is there a way to suspend or get a refund for the actual visitor maybe? Again thank you for answering.

No. To apply for Tier 4 leave is your choice / wish, so you cannot expect to be refunded for making a choice (on your own and voluntarily) that will invalidate a presently valid leave / visa.
