he guys, what is the process to book an appointment for citzenship ceremony? by phone or u have to fill some kind of application form? i rang birmingham registrar office to ask about the next date for ceremony. i was told that i have to download some kind of form and fill it and send it to registrar office and then they will let me know about ceremony. is this the right process?

Hi Everyone,

I have been reading all the posts in this forum everyday as well, so decided to sign up too.

My application was received by HO on 26/04/2011 and funds taken out of my credit card only on 13/05/2011! I must be one of the longest waiting person in this forum to get his card debited!

Now will wait for the next letter. Best of luck to all of you.

Indeed, HO says it could take more than 6months for decision based on their external checks....perhaps Johnty falls within this category....

Congratulations. That is pretty quick compared to the current time line of approval letter reception.

Can you kindly let us know under which criteria you submitted the application. Method of application (NCS or postal). Date mentioned on the approval letter. Also if you applied via NCS did you enclose a special delivery envelope and whether it was used to send your approval letter.

Called today and I have been told it is waiting for allocation to a case worker..
I said I believe the external check have beed completed which I was told 2 months ago? She said NO! when it is allocated then the checks will be made.

Me: What is going on? First you said waiting for checks now you are saying waiting for allocation and check will be made after that!

She said I can not tell you more than what I see on the screen and etc etc.

So I asked if I can make a complaint so I was given some this address below.
North west CSU
Dept 99 Manchester M90 3WW

Now what shall I do? complaint and what? Need advice please

Thanks

You can always send a recorded letter asking for more information about the status without making it look like a complaint. also, ask politely in the letter if there is any agency from which they have asked for more info and they are not hearing back. you are ready to provide more info etc. etc. I see you had spousal visa. this is one of the most suspicious type of residence. most of the frauds happen on spousal visa and residency, so i wont be surprised if home office takes extra time to scruitinise the application. also, the problem with govt agencies is that, if the officer dealing with your case suspects something, he is never going to share that with you...

I also rang my council and they said they still haven't received my certificate. they said that this was strange as they generally get the certificates before the applicants get their approval letters. i will be ringing the HO tomorrow to check whats happening.

I also found out that the cost of a private ceremony at my council is £125 phew !!

This is a never ending and a very expensive loop.
£125.00 is a lot better than £260.00 charge by Birmingham city council.

This is very strange of ho. Approval sent but no certificate. I guess, they dealing with backlog
£260, thats an enormous amount. probablt the high fee is to discourage people from private ceremonies. I rang them this morning to ask where my invitation letter is. i was told that the letter was sent to the printing queue on the 11th of May and it can take 10 working days to arrive. i have been told to wait until next wednesday before calling again.

neverending !!

To clarify a point I do not have spouse visa but yes it is on European track.

the problem is that it has nothing to do with checks, it has not even been allocated to a caseworker yet.

My track record is good nothing I can think of is for me to worry about, and have sent them everything I could think of. That why I am not happy..

Has anybody dealt with this Manchester Dept before? do they take these complaint seriously and what is the outcome?

Thanks

Date application received by UKBA :: 22/03/2011
Date of debit of credit card :: 25/03/2011
Date of receipt of acknowledgement :: 30/03/2011 (dated 25/03/2011)
Date of receipt of approval :: Pending
Date of ceremony :: Pending

Despite trying very hard, I could no longer resist calling the Home Office. I was very happy to hear that a decision was made yesterday (18/05/2011) and that I should get a letter within the next week. I was so excited I forgot to ask whether it was successful.

I won't even entertain the idea of it being rejected, so I will assume that it was approved ;-)

Now for the letter....let's hope my assumption is correct!!!
