renew tier 1 visa more than once. (i.e 2nd extension)

Post by ldbright » Sat May 21, 2011 3:44 pm

Hi Everyone

My T1 visa will expire in March 2012. As I have to change my job next month and my new role require the people who must be holding more than one year visa from now, I have to do a early extension at the end of May(this month). I know that I can extand my T1 visa more than one time to meet the 5 years PR requirement. Now my questions are:

1. If I need to go for a 2nd extension, when I can do that? Can I apply for the 2nd extension at anytime after I got the 1st?

2. How long will the 2nd extension be? same length of the 1st one? i.e 2 years
or
there is a limitation on extension times so the 2nd extension will only be given to make up 5 year. (i.e. only 7 months, if this is the time you are short of )

Does HO has any document that clarify on this?

Many thanks for your help and hope answers i got here will help others

This is what I've found from UKBA's site--
it seems that one can apply for another extension (2nd extension) he/she is short of 5 years.
"At the end of this period, you may have lived continuously in the UK as a highly skilled migrant for 5 years. You can then apply to settle permanently in the UK. If you are not yet eligible for settlement, you can apply for permission to extend your stay under Tier 1 (General) again."
