Bank statement dates query... please help!

Post by bits722 » Wed May 18, 2011 1:13 am

I think I've really screwed it up. Please let me know what you think of this situation.

I have been in UK for almost 18 months now, my wife is in EU and she applied for a UK Tier 1 dependent visa. She filled the form online and paid the fee online on 8 April. But there were no dates available and she got her appointment to submit attached documents and biometric data only for 9 May. I gave her all the documents to submit but my bank statement with the correct amount is from Jan 18 - April 17.

I noticed today that on the guidance document the "date of application" is taken as the date on which the fee is paid. Taking the date of application to be 8 April, should my bank statements have been for 3 months before 8 April? I've given them more recent statements, surely that won't be a problem? Or are they going to refuse my application because it doesn't follow the guidance to the letter?

I could easily have given bank statements for 6 months, I don't know why I didn't and now I'm so afraid... :(

This will not be my wife's first visit to the UK. She has been here on a Tier 2 visa a few years back and has visited me a couple of times over the past year as well.

What do you guys think? Should we expect a rejection and start preparing documents for another fresh application?

I got no replies but I guess it wasn't an easy one to answer. Happy to report that my wife got the visa, so the documents were considered okay :)
