We have just sold our property in the UK and are planning to live in Southern Ireland .It is getting confused about what we have to apply for in oder to work over there.Can you please advise us my husband and l are UK born and will only need part time work.

Even ignoring the special relationship between the UK and Ireland, under EU/EEA law a British Citizen has the right to exercise treaty rights in any other EEA country, including Ireland.

Accordingly mere proof of your British passport shows you have a right to live and work in Ireland ... or Iceland ... or Italy etc etc. On reflection today, given the current heatwave hitting the UK, Iceland sounds a very good idea today! (Here in Birmingham it is currently over 34C!)
