applying for IRL after 5 years in the UK as a WP holder

Post by watfordguy » Mon May 23, 2011 11:21 pm

Hi,

I'm going to submit for ILR next august as I continue 5 years working in the UK as work permit holer... I have few questions and I wish I find the right answer....
1- section 7 of the application form which asks about criminal conviction.. I have got 3 points on my driving license as a result of a speeding fine.. I have paid it on time and as per criminality requirements FPN is not a criminal conviction but what should I answer question 7.1 .. yes or no ? I mean should I disclose the FPN or disregard it ?

2- regarding the days absence out of the UK ... do they count the paid days out or only the unpaid period ? I have no unpaid absence out side the UK but I always take my annual leave and travel out side the UK.. so in result I have about 178 days in total.

3- should I book and go myself to the home office or it is better to get an migration consultant .. I know it costs more but is it worth or ??? ...

Thanks ...

2- They ask for all absences since day 1 of your ILR qualifying period. If total is less than 180 and no single trip over 90 days then no problem. If over 180 then caseworker may ignore paid leave and business travel related absences.

3- Depends on your ability to put all documents together and your availability. Its not rocket science. documents required are listed in the form and guidance notes plus tons of posts here as well.

If you have doen any of your previous visa applicatiosn yourslef, then i cant see any reason not to do this one by yourself as well. Its your decision if you want to spend the money or do work yourself.
