Timing the fiance visa application

Post by 121212 » Fri May 27, 2011 11:20 pm

Hi, I'm an american citizen engaged to a british citizen. We intend to marry, however, she is currently married and waiting on a divorce to come through which is in the final stages now. We want to apply for a fiance visa, but obviously will have to wait for the divorce to fully come through.

I have been denied entry twice into the uk, and have been in once for over a month, and she's also visited me here in the states.

She is also pregnant and is due in december, so we'd like to be together for that if possible.

My main questions are, how long does a fiance visa application usually take to process etc, if it would even be possible to go for a general visitors visa at this stage so i make it for the birth then come home, and if we'd be better off just her coming here, us getting married, then going directly for a marriage visa. I'd also like to know if there was somewhere in the states I could make an appointment to just for advice (not to apply for anything, if anyone knows.

I was told that I'd need a visa to come back if I wanted to get in again, and was told that I have good chances of getting the fiance visa because of the baby and all, but that my case would undergo extensive scrutiny. Just some background info I guess if it helps, thanks ahead of time to anyone that takes the time to help.

(If this is posted in the incorrect section just please point me in the right direction, new to all this)
