Hiya everyone,

Ok, I need to know the following information, as I wish to bring my girlfriend home with me to the UK. How can I go about doing this? We're planning on getting married, but we're curious as to whether this will either hinder or assist in the process.

We've been together for one year and we live in Canada, although she is Ukrainian. All I need to figure out is whether it is easier to remain wiith her in Canada, or if it will be easier for us to return to the UK. What is the criteria, what visa applications can she apply for, how long will they take etc,

and also, I know that the Ukraine is counted as part of Europe, but it is not entitled to the same free movement for it's citizens in and out of the UK, as Germany or France, so any assistance would be great with this issue.

Regards,
Mark.

Are you a British citizen? Assuming so:

If you wish to marry in the UK, then she may apply for entry clearance as a fiancee.
If you wish to marry outside the UK and travel to UK after the wedding, then she may apply for entry clearance as a spouse.
Life isn't fair, but you can be!
