6 month Visa extension without Sponsers paperwork?????

Post by parveen_h » Mon Jul 24, 2006 12:09 pm

Hi,

This is my first post to this forum, I really hope someone can help.

I have recently sucessfully obtained a 6 months visitors visa for my grandmother, (she lives in pakistan and has come to the uk). She says that she will go back within 5 months so that she can go to the embassy and they will issue her with a 2 year visa, without having to show any papers from the sponsor, i am happy for her to stay the original 6 months, but i do not wish to support her for another 2 years as she is quite a volatile character and can get angry at the slightest thing.
i have heard many stories about this and i think what she says is true. What can i do to stop her from coming again! i'm desperate!!!!!!!!

Also is this completly true, will it not even be discussed with me if i want to support her for another two years????

Many thanks for reading and I will be greaful for any advice.

I'm pretty sure the two year visitors visas are only valid for six months at a time and again, not meant as settlement visas. So I would imagine spending more than six months here on it in any one year would arouse some suspicion with the immigration folks.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply Wanderer. I have heard this from a number of relations that say it is true, just wanted some clarification of whether anything else is involved. I think it is a fairly new thing that immigration are doing and as far as I can see is being kept very quiet.

Is there anyone I could e-mail to get some definate answers?

Many thanks,

Parveen

I doubt anybody can give you any advice on your situation...

You are ready to sponser her initial 6 months visa and are also scared she will come back on a 2 yr visa and make your life a hell..

It's upto you now to decide whether you are ready to face the consequences or not

1. With respect surely the first step is to discuss your feelings with your grandmother in an appropriate manner. Perhaps involving your parents/ other close relatives would make this easier.

2. The UK issues visitor visas of 6 months, 1 yr, 2 yr, 5 yr and 10 yr (the latter two are primarily reserved for well travelled business types who are of minimal immigration risk e.g. the CEO of company A listed top of country B stock exchange.)

3. Regardless of validity the maximum period of entry/ stay in the UK is 6 months. The IO can give a shorter time - I've known them give 3 days.

Good luck and I hope you work things out...remember old age eventually comes to us all and I am sure then we would appreciate understanding grandchildren.

I think that some of you have perhaps missed the issue here!

This isn't a post about personal criticisms, but rather a post about immigration advice.

In retort to your statement brit chick, I don't see the meanness in bringing Nan over for a 6 months, providing for someone that is very ungrateful and generally putting up with nasty comments. Yes we all get old, but we don't loose the ability to think before we speak!

Please could someone just advise on the matter in hand, which is can visa's be renewed without the consent of the sponsor and without further paperwork if the person returns to their native country within the 6 months and goes to the embassy?
