HSMP dependent- work as dentist

Post by sukhpreet.kaur » Sat Jun 18, 2011 5:48 pm

Hi,
My husband is on HSMP visa since 2008. I am a dentist from India and have cleared my overseas registration exam(ore) first part and will be sitting for the second part very soon. I just want to know when i clear my ore can i work as dentist in training(vocational training) as it only say on my passport that i cannot work as doctor in training and there is nothing regarding the dentist in training. Will really appreciate your help. Thank you.

The restriction was extended to dentists only in April 2010, so if you applied for leave to enter / remain before that then you may not have this restriction endorsed on your vignette. In such case, you may work as a dentist in training while your current leave is valid.

However, if and when you apply for extension as Tier 1 (General) dependant, you'll have to fulfil 319D(b)(iii)(3) to ensure that the restriction is not endorsed on your leave then.

Thanks for the reply. Now my husband will apply for indefinite leave to remain in UK in march 2013. Is there any restriction after that as well. As far as i know once we have indefinite leave to remain in UK, there are no more restrictions on working as dentist in training. Please let me know if this is right or there will be still some restriction on the visa. Thanks.

When you are granted settlement, you'll not be subject to this restriction.
