Indian Passport on Passport Surrender

Indian Passport on Passport Surrender

Hi,

Could anyone please tell if the indian passports are returned (Cancelled) back (to applicant) on surrender with a surrender certificate.

Would appreciate if anyone have had any experience.

Yes the passport will be cancelled and returned.

Sorry to say this is not correct.When you submit for surrender certificate they will not return your indian passport.You will get only surrender certificate.

This what i got for me

You do get the cancelled passport back, with a 'revoked' stamp.

This is wrong. Surrender certificate along with the cancelled passport will be returned. Atlast that was the case until a month ago. I got the passport back with the corners cut.

Quite right. You do get your revoked passport (With the edge cut off and stamped) back along with the surrender certificate.

hello gg234, did you check out why you didn't get your cancelled passport back?

I am confused as you saying will not get the passport back but few others are saying you will get...

Is there any specific criteria when you get back or when you don't?

I got my SC on 24 June and also got my Indian passport back from the HCI with its edge cut off and with a stamp saying the passport was revoked. Hope this helps.

Don't get confused. There is no criteria. When you are issued with SC, you will get your cancelled Indian passport back. As simple as that.
