Need Urgent help in Tier 4 Extension

Post by shribalaji » Mon Jun 27, 2011 12:47 am

Hi All,

Currently Im in Tier 4 student visa for 9month Pgdipolama course, i successfully completed it and got an offer to do my Msc i.e masters degree for the same course which needs more 3 months to complete the dissertation.

The visa expires on August 30th 2011 but i have to submit my dissertation on September 12th 2011 , only 13 days extra. So for the extension do i need to re-apply with all other formalities(Money in bank account, accommadation etc) or just the CAS will allow me to stay here. My university is highly trusted and top ranked.

when should i apply for an extension? How many more months i can expect as an extension? The result will be announced only on November. I need to apply for PSW without going to my home country as it is more expensive and waste of time  .

Could any one please reply as soon as possible , Im in desperate need for help and advice :? . Thanks.

Regards,
Shri

- Yes you have to meet the same requirements - including maintenance etc, the CAS alone is not sufficient

- you should apply before the course ends. If the course is between 6 months and 12 months you can expect an additional 2 months on after your course ends, if it is 12 months + an additional 4 months, and if a decision is made after your course has ended, you should get 3 months from the date of decision

hi ,
i hope u dont mind if i ask a question in this post,
i am doing masters from a uni, we have submitted our dissertation last month,
the problem is mine and my course mate visa is expiring 10 days before the results will be announced, we all wants to apply for PSW,
we have spoken so many times regarding this with our uni's international department and once with our school director, and all the time their answer is that "there is nothing they can do about it", we have request them if they could annouce the result 10 or 15 days earlier ,so that we can apply for psw with our result,
they have told us that there is a procedure that they have to follow..like internal marks checking then external..then board meetings...etc,
in short their simple answer is, go back to your country and we will post the result to your home address. which is quite easy for them to say but how hard it could be for us...only we knows
i was wondering if any one could plz plz plz give any advise or any suggestion that how can we extend our stay or is there any way we can apply for psw without leaving uk,"most of my friends are looking around to get admission in any college for another course just bcoz if this 10 day gap"
i would really really appreciate ur help regarding this......
thanks

as long as you apply before your visa expires then your stay remains lawful until a decision is made or if you are refused, until you become appeal rights exhausted.

You can't apply for PSW unless you have been awarded your degree so you will need to apply from home unless you qualify for leave in another category. Applying for admission in 'any college' just to circumvent the PSW rules when you have no intention on studying may not be advisable and don't forget that under the new rules your new college/uni would have to confirm that the new course constitutes academic progression.

thanks v much for ur valuable feedback , can u also correct me if i am wrong, as far as i know any one who gets offical result can apply for psw on the bases of that result and a letter from uni?
secondaly i was not going to take admission in college, otherwise i could have done like my few friends, i meant to ask was, is there any way that we can make uni to declare results early, i am getting mix answer from few people as some says just apply and include a covering letter saying my result is 10 days delayed and as soon i get the result i should post to Ukba, some says there should not be a problem if u apply after getting ur result , i am confused, i will really appreciate if any one could give me any opinion. thanks

Yes once you have your official result and have been informed by the exam board that you have been awarded your degree, you can apply for PSW, you don't need the degree certificate.

You can't make your uni declare the results earlier. In some instances they may be able to do so, but they are under no obligation to move the date, and, under no obligitation to release the results before your visa expires. It is common for masters students to not have enough time for the results in particularl if the course is slightly less than 12 months and therfore they only have an additional two months and not an additional 4.

If you apply before you have been awarded your degree, even if you are subsequently awarded after you submit your application, you will not have met the requirements at the time of the application and therefore it will stand for refusal.

I am not sure what you mean by applying after your results - if you mean overstaying and then applying, then you will be here unlawfully and risk a potential ban on future entry clearance applications. You will also not have a right of appeal if the application is refused.
